Watson & Watson - AVO Protection Orders

Watson Watson Family Lawyers - Protection Orders, Restraining Orders Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO)

Courts hearing family matters can make a range of orders for your safety. With our help, you can apply for non-molestation orders, which prevent your former partner from contacting or harassing you, “restraint from entering premises” and “vacate premises” orders, and restraint orders keeping your former spouse away from your children.

If you’ve got a genuine fear of violence from your current or former partner, you can apply for a Domestic Violence Order, or if necessary, an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO).

Can the Courts Provide Protection Orders for Non-Physical
Violence?

The violence need not only be physical (which is often the case with an AVO): conduct amounting to harassment, molestation, intimidation, or stalking also constitutes domestic violence and can amount to grounds for a restraining order. Watson Watson Family Lawyers will get your application to the right place – a local, or Magistrate’s Court.

Do Protection Orders Show Up on Criminal Records?

Although brought under the New South Wales Crimes Act, an order usually won’t make the subject a criminal – unless they breach the order. Orders can be tailored to stop the offender doing specific things, such as approaching you or your children, or owning a firearm, or even coming within in a certain distance of your residence.

Examples of Protection Orders
- Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO)
- Restraining Orders
- Non-Molestation Orders
- Restraint From Entering Premises Orders
- Vacate Premises Orders
- Domestic Violence Orders
